Savannah Transit Company Employee Badge (291)

The Savannah Transit Company (1945-1960) briefly operated the electric streetcars of Savannah when they purchased the holdings from Savannah Electric and Power Company in 1946, discontinuing the streetcars in August of that year. They continued to operate buses in the city, creating the well-known Azalea themed transit token with the star hole in the center in the 1950’s. The STC ceased after the creation of the Savannah Transit Authority by the Georgia state legislature in 1961.
