Ludden & Bates Souvenir Mirror

The Ludden & Bates Southern Music House was established in 1870 in Savannah. They incorporated in 1884 with William Ludden as president and J.A. Bates as Vice President, having become the largest sheet music distributor in the south.

Around 1895, the company purchased a piano manufacturing facility in New York, and began building pianos under the “Ludden & Bates” brand name.

In the early 1900’s, the company was acquired by Carter & Darough of Valdosta, GA. Ludden & Bates closed its Savannah operations in 1933.
